Scheimpflug technique

To shoot a portrait like this on wet plate collodion you have to use a technique called ‘scheimpflug’.
Normally the lens plane and the image plane of a camera are parallel.
By closing the aperture of the lens you are creating dept of field.
Wet plate collodion process is very slow (less than 1 iso).
So we are using an open lens to get all the speed possible.
For shooting a group in this process we need to change the parallel plane of focus to a diagonal plane of focus by using swing of the image plane and lens plane.
You are very welcome to witness and experience this technique and proces at the Silver Portrait Store Amsterdam.
